We are used to hearing things about weed from folks like Woody Harrelson, Seth Rogen, or Rhianna (man, have you seen some of her pics with those giant rasta joints?!), so we decided to dig a little deeper and find some really cool quotes from avid pot smokers. Some may be a little obvious but some might surprise you! Enjoy!
Kansas-native and all-around badass musician, person, and cancer survivor, Melissa Etheridge pretty much sums up what most people with chronic pain are figuring out. There’s no doubt that weed helped her in her successful fight against cancer. We can’t help but agree with Ms. Etheridge on this one …
“Instead of taking five or six of the prescriptions, I decided to go the natural route and smoke marijuana.”
Seriously, Henry Ford?! He knew back then, not only about the awesomeness of hemp but that we also need/should not destroy forests. And this was before what we know now about CO2 emissions from automobiles!
“Why use up the forests which were centuries in the making and the mines which required ages to lay down, if we can get the equivalent of forest and mineral products in the annual growth of the hemp fields?”
Most of us probably never thought of it this way, but Bill Murray kinda hits the nail on the head with this quote …
“I find it quite ironic that the most dangerous thing about weed is getting caught with it.”
You may not have heard of Stephen Gould, but this London-based progressive rock musician was big in England in the 1960s and 70s. No surprise he was a big weed user (and knowing the time, probably a few other vices). Few truer words have been said than his views on marijuana. The operative word here: humane.
“It is beyond my comprehension that any humane person would withhold such a beneficial substance from people in such great need simply because others use it for different purposes.”
Whoa, this one kind of blew our minds and we weren’t even partaking! One of Jamaica’s favorite sons gets introspective with this one (psst, it’s true!). It makes us wonder how many mind-blowing quotes he said that were never memorialized. How cool would it have been to smoke with Bob?!
“When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself.”
With all the news of diseases, conditions, viruses, and calamities that kill people untimely, we forget that stress is still number one. We think the same as Willie with his matter-of-fact quote here …
“The biggest killer on this planet is stress and I still think the best medicine is and has always been cannabis.”
How many times have we been asked if MJ is addictive? Answering it with facts is easy but this is a great answer for the often-asked question. Marijuana is addictive like love, peace, and happiness are!
“Is marijuana addictive? Yes, in the sense that most of the really pleasant things in life are worth endlessly repeating.”
Dr. Sanjay Gupta
CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta was one a staunch opponent of weed but after irrefutable evidence to its wide and deep benefits, he backtracks his position on air. Since then, the trusted news channel doctor has been on air repeating this fact-based statement …
“[Marijuana] doesn’t have a high potential for abuse, and there are very legitimate medical applications. In fact, sometimes marijuana is the only thing that works.”
Those of us who use marijuana already know this, but I say don’t even take up tobacco in the first place. Even marijuana on its own adds relaxation to people which will, as Willie Nelson knows well, reduce stress and add years to your life. It’s interesting to think why Jack Herer believes 24 years here, but hey, we’ll take it!
“If you substitute marijuana for tobacco and alcohol, you’ll add eight to 24 years to your life.”
The best for last
And here is probably the best quote we’ve read about weed. It’s one of those ‘it’s funny because it’s true’ quotes. We love it!
“Smoking weed doesn’t make you paranoid. Weed being illegal makes you paranoid.”

Happy smoking and why not take Marley’s lead and get a little introspective while doing you?!
